Garden Crossing
Boulder, Colorado
Garden Crossing is high-density, affordable housing solution planned, designed, and built to fit within the constraints of a pre-existing abandoned drive-in theater site, the Holiday Drive-In located in the north neighborhood of Boulder, Colorado. The careful planning of this urban in-fill site includes a mix of detached garden homes and attached town-home units oriented around interior courts that create a dynamic architectural and landscape solution that has made Garden Crossing one of the most popular housing projects in Boulder. In response to the client’s desire to create a contemporary town-home product, the architecture utilizes brightly colored forms inspired by the simplicity of historic miners’ cottages that are characteristic of the region. The homes Range in size from 620 to 1,628 square feet. Each units has one attached garage and a deck or balcony that extends the living space to the outside and takes full advantage of the mountain views.
